At the end of the book Dr. Randle receives a farewell postcard from Eric Sanderson, seemingly posted after he has died.

The postmark reads (in greek): "Κάπου πέρα από την θάλασσα", which means "somewhere beyond the sea" and instead for the date, there is the symbol for infinity.
